Our commitments
- Beyond Eight respects and honours our educational-partners, their right to be treated courteously, fairly and have their privacy protected. Beyond Eight is committed to complying with the National Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act of 1988.
- Personal information is given in good faith by our educational-partners and donors and will only be used to maintain or enhance their relationship with Beyond Eight and their partnered-student. Only educational-partners’ names and country of residence may be given to partnered-students, and further personal information directly given by the educational-partner will be provided to the student through private communication.
- Educational-partners are given the opportunity to communicate with their partnered-student through the Beyond Eight online portal ('Link up'). All exchanges of information between educational-partner and student will be closely monitored and may be edited by Beyond Eight.
- Similarly, Beyond Eight will protect the rights of partnered-students, providing only such information deemed necessary and appropriate to maintain the relationship between students and their educational-partners.
- Beyond Eight will monitor and restrict the amount and frequency of educational and marketing material sent to educational-partners and will allow educational-partners to remove their name from mailing lists.
- Beyond Eight will inform educational-partners about child poverty, our response and encourage them to pray for the children, write to them, and provide financial support.
Collection, use and management of information
- Personal information is only collected when necessary and is supplied with consent.
- Individuals or groups can, for instance, make an anonymous donation or enquiry.
- Prospective educational-partners can visit our web site anonymously.
- Marketing surveys can be completed anonymously.
- Personal details are required to link an educational-partner with a student, to process and post a receipt, magazine or letter, send new or updated student information, establish periodic payments, and maintain the relationship between educational-partners and Beyond Eight.
- Each educational-partner and donor’s personal details are kept and used to verify an individual’s identity when they make contact.
Protecting your information
- Beyond Eight has put in place procedural, physical and electronic means to safeguard the personal information of our educational-partners.
- Beyond Eight has also verified the security and privacy provisions of other organisations with whom we provide information about educational-partners. These include our bank and other business partners.
- Beyond Eight will not rent, exchange or sell mailing lists of our educational-partners to other organisations.
- Educational-partner’s information is kept both in hard copy and electronic forms. In either case, Beyond Eight has documented procedures to safeguard this information.
- Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption is used when collecting or transferring credit card or bank account information via the internet, ensuring a secure environment for the transfer of your confidential data from your browser to our financial institution using the latest encryption technology from Westpac Banking Corporation.
Updating your information
- Beyond Eight is committed to allowing educational-partners to see and correct information that is shown to be incorrect or outdated.
- Beyond Eight staff will clearly identify themselves when making contact with educational-partners, and all letters and marketing materials will contain Beyond Eight and/or 38degrees Program logo and contact details.
